Eurovision 2025 season is just getting underway and with one artist already selected many countries are now moving towards securing the line-up for their own national selections this year. Belgium is set to select it’s entry through its national final “Eurosong”, which will be the second consecutive time that Flemish broadcaster VRT has used the format to select their entry to the competition.
Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws is reporting on the first five names that they believe are taking part in the selection show.
Jelle van Dael
She started in the music industry at 18 years old and went on to become the lead singer of the Belgian group Lasgo in 2008 before leaving the 2014 to focus on her solo career.
After leaving Lasgo she released “Lie Machine” and also went on to release a cover of Backstreet Boys song “As Long As You Love Me” in 2015.
More recently she participated in VTM show “Sing Again”, a show where former contestants from talent shows are brought back to showcase their talent once more. She reached the semi-finals of the competition.
LEEZ
LEEZ (Lisa van Rossem) is no stranger to talent shows and is also no stranger to the “Eurosong” format in 2005 and she participated in “Eurokids” which was Belgium’s national selection for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest that year which was held in Hasselt.
She also more recently participated in the Flemish version of “The Voice” – within Belgium she is most well known for being the sister of singer Metejoor.
Noémie Wolfs
Noémie Wolfs is best known for being the former lead singer of Hooverphonic – who went on to represent Belgium in 2020 and 2021 (with a different lead singer) – she joined the group in 2010 and had big hits with songs such as “Anger Never Dies” and “Amalfi”. After five years with the group she departed in 2015 citing creative differences with the group and embarked on a solo career.
Red Sebastian
Red Sebastian, real name Seppe Herremans, is a former participant in Belgium’s Got Talent. More recently he appeared on Sing Again (the same competition as Jelle van Dael).
Grace Khuabi
The final name rumoured to be participating in Eurosong this year is Grace Khuabi who won The Voice van Vlaanderen in its Seventh Season. She released her debut single “Freedom” in 2021.
The full line-up of eight artists is yet to be announced – and there is still no date set for Eurosong 2025 although in 2023 the selection took place in January. Could any of these artists be Belgium’s next representative and maybe even a Eurovision winner only time will tell.
