Following an EBU vote that has determined that Israel will be permitted to participate in the 2026 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, RÚV will meet to discuss the impact this will have on Icelands’ participation in the event.

Two countries have already withdrawn from the event, The Netherlands and Spain.

The EBU released a statement where they confirmed that a majority of participants had voted in favour of the proposed rules changes and against a vote on Israeli participation. They also clarified that all broadcasters would now be asked to confirm if they wished to participate and that the official confirmation of participating broadcasters will be communicated before Christmas.
