Today, Belgium’s representative for the 68th Eurovision Song Contest set to be held in Sweden later this year, Mustii released his long-anticipated Eurovision song.
Mustii was the first representative to be announced when Belgian broadcaster RTBF announced that he would represent the country back in September, since then lots of hype has been built around his entry. In January, he released an open appeal for Eurovision fans to submit their vocals to feature in the song when it is released.
The song begins slowly and builds throughout before reaching its crescendo in the final minute. The publically contributed choir comes into the backing vocals as Mustii unveils his true power.
Belgium is one of the countries that participated in the first Eurovision Song Contest and has missed very few editions since, their only win in the competition came when Sandra Kim claimed victory in the 1986 edition. Their best result in the last decade is two fourth-placed finishes that were achieved by RTBF in 2015 and 2017 with Loic Nottet and Blanche respectively.
Last year, Gustaph represented the nation and saw them return to the top 10 for the first time since Blanche in 2017 also achieving the best result for the Flemish broadcaster to date.
Will Mustii return Belgium to Eurovision glory? The song certainly seems to have the potential now that Mustii heads out on his pre-party tour and builds towards the Eurovision final and what will hopefully be one of Belgium’s best-ever results.
