Several broadcasters have asked the EBU to open a discussion with member broadcasters over irregularities during the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, mainly relating to the outcome of the televote.
The first broadcaster to do so was Spains’ RTVE who called for a debate on whether the current public vote process is optimal.
Belgiums’ VRT seconded this asking the EBU to provide full transparency regarding the voting system while also calling for a debate based on the “concern for the continued existence of the competition”. VRT went further openly suggesting that they may withdraw if things in relation to the competition do not change.
VRT works well with the EBU in many areas but without a serious response to our concerns regarding the Eurovision Song Contest, we are questioning our future participation.

This was later backed up by VRTs French-language counterpart RTBF.
RTBF supports the need to guarentee the highest levels of transparency in the face of debates about the voting system.

We are available to work and, if necessary, to adapt to improvements and adaptations to the Competition’s procedures.
Icelandic broadcaster RUV clarified that they will also be requesting information from the EBU relating to their televote scores.
Finnish broadcaster YLE followed up with a further request to review the current rules relating to voting at the Eurovision Song Contest.
We will ask the EBU if it is time to update these rules or at least to look at whether the current rules allow for abuse.

However, YLE clarified that they are not planning on directly raising the question over the participation of Israel.
The most recent broadcaster to join the calls for a discussion were Slovenia’s RTVSLO
RTVSLO still insists on last year’s and this year’s call to the EBU to reconsider the member counties performing [and] intends to address questions to the EBU regarding this year’s event.
