Further details have been confirmed about SSR SSG’s plans to host an “ArenaPlus” in Basel.
The plans mean that in addition to those who attend the live show in the arena a further 36,000 people will be able to watch the final in the nearby St Jakob-Park.
As part of the experience, the arena will host a ninety-minute pre-show featuring some former Eurovision contests including Baby Lasagna.
Following the pre-show the Grand Final will be broadcast in full on a big screen in the arena. During the live show itself, Switzerland’s spokesperson will announce the countries’ twelve points from within the ArenaPlus.
Arena plus will also have two dedicated hosts Melanie Freymond and Sven Epiney. Sven has been SRF’s Eurovision commentator since 2008 and will provide commentary on the event this year in addition to his role in ArenaPlus – the duo together will announce Switzerland’s twelve points.
